Still the regmine persists to deny any meaningful reform and continues to use brutal and violent tactics to oppress the popular calls for reformation. Not only is the Human Rights situation in Bahrain tragic, it becomes more drastic with each passing day. The Formula 1 racing authority was well-aware of the Human Rights situation in Bahrain and still chose to contribute to the regime’s oppression of civilians and will be punished. For these reasons the F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain should be strongly opposed. The Al Khalifa regime stands to profit heavily off the race and has promised to use live ammunition against protestors in preparation.

The company has created an intricate web of secure servers on different continents that send encrypted data traffic in and out of almost every wireless carrier on Earth, and basically every Fortune 500 company. It would not be an easy acquisition for even the biggest companies, such as Microsoft. The complexity of RIM’s business model is another factor for a potential buyer. RIM doesn’t just make BlackBerrys, nor does it simply offer wireless service. RIM also has around 18,000 employees, around the globe, in everything from advanced R&D to highly specific tech support roles.

In a ReadMe file included with the code, Mechner explains that he was able to extract the 6502 assembly language source from a set of 3.5-inch floppies with the help of archivists Jason Scott and Tony Diaz. Mechner promises further updates via his website or on Twitter, but in the meantime you can watch the process documented by searching for the #popsource hashtag, or better yet, head on over to GitHub and take a look at the source code for yourself. Last month Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner discovered the floppy disks containing the source code for the original Apple II version of the game, and promised to post it online when he was able to transfer it into some sort of modern format. For those who want to dive in, he’s also provided a technical explanatory document on his site, originally produced back in 1989 for the various teams that were porting the game to other platforms like the Amiga and Sega Genesis. He’s now made good on his pledge, posting the source code for the game on GitHub.

The stories on which he draws are impossibly alien: His failed effort to flee to China during the severe famine of the 1990s landed him in a concentration camp, where he served seven months hard labor.
