This would probably be the last statement is to learn from the Jets and the NFL in general, like many fans, including myself, hope it will be fired after trying to intentionally hurt another player. He worked in the NFL long enough – to know there are cameras that can take. As a coach of 33 years who has been in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and the Jets of the past nine years, there is absolutely no excuse for their actions.

Despite media reports that he was in the process of hiring a staff and set to sign a contract with the Southern Cal Trojans, Jack Del Rio is remaining as coach of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. Jack Del Rio met with Jaguars’ owner Wayne Weaver on Tuesday and the result of the meeting is that Del Rio will remain with team, probably through the end of the three years remain on his contract. Weaver didn’t guarantee that Jack Del Rio will remain for three years, however, he outlined some areas of improvement he would like to see the Jaguars achieve. Just last week, Weaver had called the results of Jack Del Rio’s seven years with the Jaguars as “average.” On Tuesday, Weaver said that “average is not acceptable.” Jack Del Rio’s name was bandied about as the next head coach of USC after its head coach, Pete Carroll, resigned to take the head coaching job with Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. Jack Del Rio has compiled a 58-57 record through seven years with the Jaguars while going 1-2 n the playoffs.

The University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer shocked the college football world with the announcement that he is quitting down as the team’s coach after next Friday’s Sugar Bowl game against the Cincinnati Bearcats, partly due to health reasons. According to news sources, Florida spokesperson Steve McClain, reported that Urban Meyer, 45, does not have a life-threatening disease but it is more related to lifestyle and his family. Urban Meyer became hospitalized after the SEC title game Dec. 5 for dehydration. “I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family,” Urban Meyer said in a prepared statement. Under Urban Meyer, the Gators have won two of the last three national championships. Overall, Urban Meyer compiled a 95-18 record and was 56-10 during his tenure at Florida, including 32-2 at Florida Field and 32-8 in the SEC. The stress of a trying to repeat as national champions undoubtedly played a role in causing Urban Meyer to step down as Gator coach, along with off-the-field issues, including the drunken-driving arrest of senior defensive end Carlos Dunlap.
