6, 2010. – Liverpool Football Club’s Anfield Stadium is seen on the day that the club’s possible sale has been announced, Liverpool, England, Wednesday Oct. Liverpool’s board agreed to sell the debt-riddled Premier League soccer club to the owners of the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, although legal action may be needed to force the existing American owners out. Current co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. said Tuesday they would resist the bid from New England Sports Ventures, which owns the Red Sox, and a separate bid from Asia because both “dramatically undervalue” the 18-time English champions.

We’ve had the ball with a chance to win in both of our first two games. A: We’re certainly not taking any solace that we’re playing in close games. When you win football games then all of that other stuff about changing culture will follow suit. There are a lot of things we need to do better as a football team. We haven’t gotten that done. We’re not a team that’s just glad to play a close game; we’re a team that expects to win. We’re not very happy about that, probably a lot like the Minnesota Vikings. We’ve had the lead in both games and we’ve given it up on some big plays. We’ve given up some plays on defense and that has put us behind. I think that comes from expectations of the team. We’re 0-2.

Japan’s beleaguered Toyota motor company has announced another vehicle. This one is for nearly half a million of its highly prized Prius and three other hybrid models. The Prius vehicle recall comes on top of more than 7 million other vehicles that Toyota has been forced to recall for various problems. The hybrid vehicle recall affects Prius and Lexus cars in the U.S. due to a braking problem. Reportedly, the recalled vehicles’ brakes “seem to soften” when braking, Toyota said in a statement. Eight other Toyota models, including the popular Camry model, are among the other recalled vehicles being brought back into Toyota dealerships to fix a defective gas pedal situation.
